henanthrene removal in unsaturated soils treated by electrokinetics with ifferent surfactants—Triton X-100 and rhamnolipid

چکیده
In this study, the remediation performance of electrokinetic (EK) technology integrated with different surfactants for removing phenanthrene from unsaturated soils was investigated. A synthetic surfactant (Triton X-100) and a biosurfactant (rhamnolipid) were used to enhance phenanthrene solubility and removal efficiency during EK process. Results indicate that the electro-osmotic flow (EOF) rate in the

Composition of Surface Layer at the Water–Air Interface and Micelles of Triton X-100 + Rhamnolipid Mixtures
Measurements of the surface tensions, densities and viscosities of aqueous solutions of Triton X-100 (TX-100) and rhamnolipid (RL) mixtures, at constant concentration of RL or TX-100, were carried out. The measured values of the surface tension were compared to those determined using different theoretical models and on the basis of the surface tension of aqueous solutions of individual surfacta...

Background and Objectives: The use of surfactants enhance the bioavailability of nonbiodegradable contaminants such as PAHs. Biosurfactants are more environmental friendly. In this study the ability of removing phenenthrene from soil by biosurfactant was assessed and compared with that of chemical surfactant. Materials and Methods: A soil sample free of any organic or microbial contamination wa...
متن کاملEnhanced crude oil biodegradation and rhamnolipid production by Pseudomonas stutzeri strain G11 in the presence of Tween-80 and Triton X-100.
In this study, the growth of sixty-one bacterial strains in crude oil were determined spectrophotometrically at 620 nm. Pseudomonas aeruginosa G1, Pseudomonas fluorescens G6, Pseudomonas stutzeri G11 and Pseudomonas putida G15 were chosen for the study based on the efficiency of crude oil utilisation. At 1% (v/v) crude oil concentration, P. stutzeri G11 strain degraded a maximum of 69%. The per...
متن کاملIn situ biosurfactant production and hydrocarbon removal by Pseudomonas putida CB-100 in bioaugmented and biostimulated oil-contaminated soil
In situ biosurfactant (rhamnolipid) production by Pseudomonas putida CB-100 was achieved during a bioaugmented and biostimulated treatment to remove hydrocarbons from aged contaminated soil from oil well drilling operations. Rhamnolipid production and contaminant removal were determined for several treatments of irradiated and non-irradiated soils: nutrient addition (nitrogen and phosphorus), P...
متن کاملRemediation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon-Contaminated Soils by Nonionic Surfactants: Column Experiments
Using flushing solutions with different nonionic surfactants, this study investigated the remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-contaminated soils with different organic carbon contents. Naphthalene and anthracene are the two delegates of PAHs used in the study. Contaminated soil packed in a stainless-steel column was continuously flushed with a surfactant solution at room temper...
